She was announced dead by her beloved husband through a social media statement that said “My heart is aching to have to say these words, but Jillian and I have lost our dear Meryl. Loved by everyone she came in contact with, and the best friend anyone could ever have. She was the best wife and mother imaginable. he can never be replaced, but I know that the many many great friends and relatives will try to fill in some of the voids as best they can.”
Who was Meryl Transport?
Meryl Transport was a resident of Dix Hills, New York, and the longtime director and owner of Camp Taconic. Meryl joined the Camp Taconic family in 2006. Around camp, Meryl was always hanging out with the older campers and giving hugs to the younger ones. Many of their Teens spent their Caravan week in California with Meryl. She had an infectious personality, always making others laugh, and was a friend to all. She was a loving wife to her husband Mark, and a caring and dedicated mother to her daughter, Jillian.
She was an amazing woman who embodied courage, love, and commitment to her husband and daughter as well as to herself as a mother. Her steadfast dedication to her family and her love of camping had a lasting impression on everyone in her vicinity. She forged lifetime relationships with many as a friend, comforting and uplifting them with her warm smile and attentive ear.
Meryl gave her entire being to raise her daughter as a mother. Those who knew her were inspired by the grace with which she accepted the pleasures and difficulties of parenting. She had an unending love for Jillian and prioritized her wants and well-being over everything else. Meryl was the perfect example of a caring and loving mother, whether it was supporting her daughter during difficult times, encouraging her at school functions, or establishing moral principles.

The funeral will be held tomorrow, October 5th, 2023 at 12:00 pm (noon) at Gutterman’s 800 Jericho Turnpike in Woodbury, NY 11797516-921-5757. Shiva will be held at the Transport home immediately following the funeral tomorrow until 9 p.m., on Friday from 12-6 p.m., on Saturday from 7-9:30 p.m., and on Sunday from 12-5 p.m. at 6 Winter Lane Dix Hills, NY 11746.
