Whether it was a concert in a sold-out stadium, or an intimate audience on Frenchman Street, live music was one of Merritt’s all-time greatest joys in life. Merritt was a member of the second generation of her family to graduate from Hockaday School. She went on to continue her education at Tulane University, where she fell in love with the city of New Orleans and met friends who would remain in her life for the rest of her days, according to the obituary.
She completed her education at SMU, and she graduated at the top of her class there. Merritt has had a lifelong fascination with western wear, and she was able to satisfy her need for creative expression while she was employed at Lucchese Bootmaker. She was currently working towards her real estate license and had just accepted a position with a commercial real estate firm in Dallas.
