Matthew Peck Death – St. Louis University Alumnus Matthew Peck of West Springfield, Massachusetts has sadly passed away. He died on Saturday 22nd April 2023 at the age of 72. The circumstances surrounding the actual cause of his death has not been revealed at the time of this report. Matthew was born in Springfield on August 31, 1950, he was the son of Edward C. Peck, Jr. and Ruth (Mahoney) Peck.
Matthew Peck Education
Matthew received his education in the public and parochial schools of West Springfield. He then went on to attend Williston Academy, St. Louis University, Holyoke Community College, and the University of Bridgeport. Finally, he received his MBA from American International College. While Matthew was living in Puerto Rico from 1975 through 1978, he coached and played soccer there. While he was there, he was selected to be a member of the Puerto Rican National soccer team.
Matthew has been a soccer player his entire life and is an athlete in general. During his time in Puerto Rico, Matt was a history teacher at the Robinson School. In 1975, he married Pamela J. Epler at the chapel located on the Robinson School campus. Following his return to Western Massachusetts, he and his older brother Robert launched the New England Soccer News together. Additionally, he was a coach for the American International College soccer team.
He leaves behind partner Carolyn Charette (West Springfield) and her son Garrett Charette (Atlanta, GA); son Christopher Peck (Kimberly Peck) of Springfield; daughter Rosemary Peck (Dr. Zongqi Xia) and grandson Nevin Edward Xia of Pittsburgh, PA, along with his former wife, Pamela Epler; five siblings: Robert J. Peck (Jill Lewin) of Agawam, Dr. Deborah A. Peck of Somerville, Mary Abigail Peck (Lorraine Gray) of Roslindale, John Patrick Peck (Mary Jane Peck) of Milford, and Richard A. Peck of West Springfield; five nieces and nephews: Tralice Peck Bracy (Robert Bracy), Jessie Peck, Eleanor Peck (Matthew Frey), Ryan DiLoreti (Suzanne Christie), and Skylar Peck; as well as several cousins and relatives among the Charette, Peck, Mahoney, Bucher, and Epler families.

Calling hours will be Fridays from 4-7 pm at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield. There will be a Funeral Mass Saturday at 9:30 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church followed by a burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Springfield.
