On Tuesday, February 8, just before 1 p.m., a crash occurred near U.S. 190 and Country Road 3080 in Lampasas County.

Maryangela Cheyenne Williams, 17, was killed in a car accident after making an unsafe turn and colliding with a cement truck.

KWTX reported that Williams, driving a 2012 Ford Fusion west on the shoulder of US 190, was approaching the intersection with CR 3080 with her right turn signal on.

A Freightliner cement truck driver was also approaching Williams’ Ford from behind, going west in the outside traffic lane.

Williams, according to investigators, made a hazardous left turn into the Freightliner’s path. The cement truck driver made an attempt to avoid the accident, but was unable. Misty Wakeman, a Justice of the Peace, pronounced Williams dead on the scene.

A 17-year-old passenger with Williams was airlifted to Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple with incapacitating injuries and was listed in stable condition.

The Freightliner’s driver escaped injury. The inquiry into the crash is still ongoing.
