About North Pitt High School
North Pitt High School, situated in close proximity to the town of Bethel within Pitt County, North Carolina, United States, was established in 1970 as the consolidated high school serving the northern region of Pitt County. It served as the integrated educational institution for the Belvoir, Bethel, Pactolus, Stokes, and Staton House communities, encompassing the extensive agricultural lands north of the Tar River.
During its inaugural year, North Pitt welcomed students from Belvoir, Bethel, and Stokes-Pactolus High Schools. The school was under the leadership of Principal Walter Latham and Assistant Principal E.R. McNair, a pioneering black administrator in the county who still contributes to North Pitt as a substitute teacher following his retirement.
Over the years, the school has expanded significantly from its original two-and-a-half hallway layout, now featuring four major hallways, a vocational wing, and two exterior field houses. North Pitt High School has shared a sister-school relationship with Cross County D. H. Conley High School in Greenville.
Markevon Mobley obituary and funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date by the family.
