Who was Markese Bryant?
Markese W. Bryant was born in East Oakland, California, and reared in Vallejo, California. At the age of six, he had to say goodbye to both his mother and his father, who were both taken away by the criminal justice system. After being caught selling crack cocaine in his area in 2005, Markese came dangerously close to experiencing the same outcome.

Markese was fortunate enough to be accepted into the Oakland Mentor diversion program, which provided him with the opportunity to make amends for his past errors.
