Marcus was among the most enthusiastic punk scene supporters many have ever met. He was a great supporter of Acid Attack. He was a proud man from the valleys and is going to be missed by many. Thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.
I am totally gutted. Rest in punk, mukka. King of the legion. Most won’t know how the last few years Marcus was so ill, fighting every day to get well and better. Endless hospital visits over and over each week. And still, he was trying to push others in the punk rock scene, always trying never stopping. Where’s Marcus Howells gone, rest in peace you the beautiful legend of a best friend.

Who was Marcus Howells?
Marcus, a true friend to countless individuals in the scene, dedicated himself wholeheartedly to supporting every band, every show, and anyone in need. As the frontman of Merthyr Punk Veterans, Foreign Legion, he fearlessly led the charge for nearly four decades. “My acquaintance with Marcus dates back to June 1979 when we crossed paths during a vacation in Weymouth, and our connection has endured ever since.”
To those fortunate enough to have known Marcus, he was an unwavering punk and music community pillar, tirelessly advocating for everyone, as he did most recently for Rum Lad. Marcus, a remarkable individual, consistently supported the punk scene immensely. Many had the pleasure of experiencing an unforgettable evening sharing a stage with him a few years ago.
A true embodiment of the punk spirit, he served as an influential figurehead for the scene and a cherished friend. It was a common sight to find Marcus on the terraces at Penydarren Park, attending every Merthyr fixture. His unwavering enthusiasm for punk and all the bands involved was palpable, always giving his all and showcasing wholehearted dedication.
