Death: For the murder of his father, a Winneshiek County man is being held on a $1 million cash bond –According to the criminal complaint, a 43-year-old Decorah man fatally shot another guy. Aaron Whittle was arrested on a charge of first-degree murder by the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office early Monday. It’s in connection with a missing person’s case involving 74-year-old Lawrence Whittle, which was discovered on Saturday.
According to a criminal complaint, Aaron Whittle indicated in an interview with law enforcement agents on Sunday that he fatally shot Lawrence Whittle with a pistol on Thursday, March 17. Law enforcement observations at the location, according to the complaint, were consistent with what Aaron Whittle had reported to them.
According to kcrg.com,The murder occurred on the 2600 block of Sand Rock Road, north of Freeport, according to the affidavit. Lawrence Whittle’s vehicle was found near Moe Park, 1278 Old Stage Road, on Saturday, according to a previous news statement, and a thorough search had failed to locate him.
The distance between the two addresses is approximately 7 miles. Whittle was being held on a cash bond of $1 million. Aaron Whittle will be held in the Winneshiek County Jail for the time being.
