According to deputies, the body of the deceased—who has yet to be identified—was discovered by a passer-by on Wednesday (Feb. 16). The Volusia Sheriff’s Office was called to the landfill just outside of Port Orange after employees made a 911 call about 10:15 a.m., Newsdaytonabeach reported

The victim’s identification has been confirmed by deputies, but his next-of-kin has yet to be notified due to his lack of family in the region. Furthermore, the individual was a day worker, not a Volusia County employee.

He was regulating traffic in the area while showing customers where they could dump their stuff. He appeared to have been ran over by a bulldozer in the vicinity.

The investigation is still ongoing, but deputies say the occurrence appears to be a terrible accident, but there were no witnesses to the accident, according to authorities. Charges are unlikely to be filed.
