SAN ANTONIO, Texas – According to San Antonio police, a maned has been arrested after shooting and killing a man and a woman thought to be his parents outside of his Northwest Side apartment.
According to San Antonio Police Chief William McManus, the incident occurred about 12:15 p.m. inside an apartment complex in the 3800 block of Parkdale.
When an officer was dealing with a traffic collision across the street from the complex, McManus said he heard gunfire. After that, the officer went over to the complex to look into it.
According to SAPD, he discovered two people, a man and a woman in their 40s or 50s, dead outside of a first-floor flat.
According to McManus, he also observed a man named Michael Burger, 20, who was clutching an AR rifle and a shotgun. Burger sought cover between two cars, forcing the cop to take a step back.
Burger reappeared from between the two vehicles shortly later, prompting the officer to order him to down his weapons before firing several shots in his direction, according to police.
According to McManus, Burger was not injured by the gunfire and promptly surrendered. After that, he was brought into custody.
The shooting is thought to have been the result of family conflict, and McManus speculated that the two people slain in the shooting could be Burger’s parents.
Burger is being charged with capital murder on one count, and the case is still under investigation
