Luke Pomerleau Arrested – According to Chief Deputy Mike Mitchell, 42-year-old Luke Pomerleau turned himself in to the police and was charged with assault resulting from domestic violence as well as impeding the report of a crime. According to the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, a man from Solon was taken into custody after a standoff with police that lasted for two hours on Sunday morning. Just after 9:30 in the morning, a woman named Heather Love, 32, from Solon called the Sheriff’s Office to report that her boyfriend, Pomerleau, had threatened to use a handgun on himself. Heather Love stated that Pomerleau was threatening to hurt himself.
Pomerleau made an attempt to take the phone away from Love
Mitchell stated that the pair was at Love’s house on French Hill Road, and he added that he believed Pomerleau lived at the same address as Love. Throughout the course of the phone call, Pomerleau made an attempt to take the phone away from Love, which ultimately led to an obstruction complaint being filed against him. Love was able to leave the house with her daughter, who was one year old, after deputies arrived at the household to investigate the situation. Love and the child, both of whom escaped the incident with no injuries, were removed from the house. Deputies decided to take a standoff approach to the issue after receiving information that Pomerleau might have been armed.
Mitchell stated that it was unclear whether or not Pomerleau had access to a firearm
As part of this strategy, the road was blocked off for around one hour. Deputy sheriffs were able to have a conversation with Pomerleau, and just after 11:45 a.m., he turned himself in, was arrested, and was transported to the Somerset County Prison in Madison. Mitchell stated that it was unclear whether or not Pomerleau had access to a firearm; nevertheless, deputies did not seize any firearms from the residence. In addition to the Solon Fire Department and the Anson-Madison-Starks Ambulance service, the Maine State Police and the Maine Warden Service were also dispatched to the incident.
