Lucas Thomas Death – The family members of 10-year-old boy involved in Beamsville accident identified him as Lucas Thomas. On Thursday afternoon, three vehicles were involved in a chain reaction crash in the Niagara Area, and the 10-year-old boy from Beamsville passed away. The crash occurred at 5:30 p.m. on the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) in Lincoln, just west of Tufford Road, and heading into Niagara.

Beamsville three-vehicle accident

He explained that a white SUV driven by a Beamsville woman, 44, and carrying her two 10-year-old brothers collided with the back of another white SUV driven by a Milton woman, 37. “That vehicle, operated by a 31-year-old from Mississauga, collided with the rear of a white SUV being driven by a 44-year-old woman,” he said. According to Schmidt, emergency personnel freed one of the boys trapped in the white SUV’s cargo area and brought him to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Mother, 44, and brother, also 14, were rushed to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The other SUV’s driver, a 37-year-old woman, was also brought to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Last night at around 9 o’clock, he claimed, the 10-year-old boy was pronounced dead by the officials.

The victim’s mother, 44, and her other son, 10, were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries, as did the driver, 37, and a child, 10, from the second white SUV. Schmidt reported that the driver who caused the initial collision was not injured. Many hours passed with the QEW closed while police investigated and cleanup personnel dealt with the aftermath. There have been no arrests made and no conclusions reached as to what caused the crash.

All lanes in the region were initially shut down as police investigated the crash. The road is now accessible. Burlington OPP or Crime Stoppers should be contacted anonymously if you have any information. OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says the initial car “approached slowing, or stopped, traffic” before causing a chain reaction crash. One of the youngsters was confirmed deceased at the hospital after being extricated from the SUV.
