Lowell was a proud 1949 West High Panther. He enjoyed sports, particularly baseball and football. He served his nation dutifully as a Sergeant, then Lieutenant, while married and raising a lovely daughter until 1955. Sadly, his mission had to be postponed.
As the Savior’s hands on earth, he lived unqualified discipleship. “”Called to Serve”” reverberated in his ears. In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as a Bishop three times and two Stake Presidencies To children, widows, and young people he devoted his life. You’ve always been welcome. Everybody felt “like family”, even business colleagues.
Lt. Lowell and Connie served together as Mission President of the Philippines Bacolod Mission (1988-91). “Mission of Love” was their motto. “Have I told you today that I love you?” Lowell would ask his missionaries in Tagalog. He has continued to serve to these wonderful and faithful Sisters and Elders for many years following his mission ended.
David Affleck, Allison Leishman (David), Nate (Laurie), and Kristel Affleck all survive Lowell. It’s very bad he died before his 90th birthday on May 24th.
