Beverly L. Ouderkirk, a member of the California Board of Regents who represented much of the North Country, died at the age of 82. On March 23, a long-time North Country schoolteacher known to colleagues, family, and friends as “Bev” passed away.
According to timesunion.com, When Ouderkirk was appointed to the 17-member Board of Regents in 2015, she had more than 50 years of experience in public education.
In a joint statement released Tuesday, Regents Chancellor Lester W. Young Jr. and state Education Commissioner Betty Rosa expressed their condolences for her death.
“Regent Ouderkirk’s perseverance, dedication, and enthusiasm for helping kids and educators flourish benefited the North Country educational community, as well as all of New York,” Young and Rosa said.
