Westerly High School Shooting today – A lockdown was implemented at a school in Westerly on Monday due to a bogus phone threat. The event took place at Westerly High School immediately before 9:00 am. According to Westley Public Schools, other Westerly schools took cover in response to that threat. According to school officials, the buildings have been cleared to resume normal operations. According to the police, the same call was also placed to Charlestown, Narragansett, and North Kingstown school districts. No other information was made available right away.
Police statement
Within the last 15 minutes, local dispatch centers have received phone calls reporting gunshot victims at both the Westerly High School and Chariho Campus. At this time both reports are UNFOUNDED. An incident matching this, in which simultaneous school shootings were reported all over the state, happened several months ago and was proven to be a series of prank calls.
This post is not meant to cause additional fear or panic but rather to provide a bit of additional information as the dispatches went over several public VHF frequencies, and Twitter sources have reported on it.

Following claims that surfaced last week, a faculty member of Westerly High School is not on campus, and authorities are looking into the situation. “On Friday afternoon last week, the administration was made aware of problematic behavior involving a male Westerly High School staff member and aimed at a female WHS student,” Westerly Superintendent Mark Garceau wrote in a letter issued to families Monday.
The Attorney General’s office and the Westerly Police (WPD) were called and involved after learning about this. Westerly police are looking into a confrontation between a young kid and a staff member, according to Westerly police chief Paul Gingerella. The CEO wanted to address rumors that have circulated on social media, even though he would not go into more detail about the accusation.
According to the chief, reports that a teacher and a pupil were seen having sex in a classroom are “absolutely incorrect.” He added that no sanctions had been applied to the pupil. Police are being as open as possible, according to the chief, without endangering the investigation or the capacity of the school system to take appropriate action with regard to the staff member. At this time, no one has been detained or accused of a crime.
