Valley High School Lockdown Investigations – Police are investigating a report of possible weapon on campus at the Valley High School in Santa Ana, California Monday. Police were called to the school campus located in the area of 1801 S Greenville St, Santa Ana, CA., after a port of a subject possible armed with a weapon. Law enforcement agencies arrived the located and placed the school on immediate lockdown. Parents have been urged to avoid the school area as officers continue to investigate the claims at this time.
In an email, the school affirmed that there is no known threat at this time, and that officers are continuing to sweep the campus for any possible weapon. The school also announced that the ongoing incident will affect the school closing time.

The City of Merced On April 7, 2023, members of the Gang Violence Suppression Unit of the Merced Police Department made an arrest of a male suspect who was wanted for attempted homicide. Officers from the Merced Police Department were called to the scene of a shooting that took place on April 1, 2023 around 1:11 AM. The incident took place at the intersection of East Yosemite Parkway and Glen Avenue. In the 700 block of Motel Drive, the officers spotted a victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound. In addition, the officers discovered the victim’s vehicle, which had what seemed to be multiple bullet holes.
The person was sent to a hospital in the Modesto region, where they remained in stable condition after being treated there. As the investigation progressed, the detectives discovered a number of locations that included security camera recordings. The video monitoring allowed law enforcement agents who deal with gangs to determine that there were other suspects involved in the shooting. Steven Vasquez, age 34, a well-known member of the gang, was determined to be one of these individuals. Vasquez was located by gang officers from the Merced Police Department on April 7, 2023, on the 300 block of South Parsons Avenue.
An arrest warrant had already been issued for Vasquez. On his warrant for Attempted Homicide, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person, and gang enhancements, Vasquez was apprehended and booked into the Merced County Jail after being charged on those charges.
