Death: TV and theater star who played Jerry’s mom in ‘Seinfeld’ dies at 93 – Liz Sheridan, who was best known for playing Jerry’s mother Helen on “Seinfeld,” has died. She was 93 years old at the time. Sheridan died “peacefully in her sleep from natural causes” early Friday morning, five days after her birthday, according to her manager Amanda Hendon.
According to latimes.com, Her full name was Elizabeth Ann Sheridan, but she was also known as Dizzy. Her death comes less than two weeks after that of Estelle Harris, who played the mother of Jason Alexander’s George Costanza on “Seinfeld.”
Sheridan began her career as a dancer in the theater area of New York. According to her 2000 memoir, “Dizzy & Jimmy: My Life With James Dean: A Love Story,” she later found work dancing in bars and summer-stock musicals.
The novel, which is being developed as a feature film, is about her romance with Hollywood actor James Dean, who died in a vehicle accident in 1955.
