Linh Hong Nguyen Death ; Pedestrian killed in Red Hook Accident Identified : Red Hook, a picturesque village in Dutchess County, was shaken by tragedy last Saturday night as a young woman lost her life in a devastating accident. The victim, identified as 25-year-old Linh Hong Nguyen, was struck and killed by a car on Broadway, leaving the community in mourning and raising concerns about road safety in the area.
According to reports from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 10:20 p.m. when a 2017 Ford Fusion traveling southbound on Broadway veered off the road, fatally striking Nguyen as she walked along the sidewalk. Despite prompt emergency response, Nguyen was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving her family, friends, and the community in shock.
Captain John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office indicated that the driver of the vehicle, fortunately uninjured, remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with authorities in their investigation. Initial assessments suggest that unsafe speed may have been the primary factor contributing to the tragic crash. However, as of now, no charges have been filed, and the investigation remains ongoing under the diligent efforts of the sheriff’s office Detective Bureau and Crash Investigation Unit.
In response to the incident, the sheriff’s office was joined by the County Medical Examiner and the Village of Red Hook Police, underscoring the collaborative effort to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident and provide support to those affected by this heartbreaking loss.
