Following the death of a man from a stabbing in Leicester, police have opened a murder inquiry. Police were called in response to a complaint of a stabbing on Gipsy Road. The incident took place on Thursday, June 15, 2023, shortly after lunchtime, close to the intersection with Melton Road. Along with paramedics from the East Midlands Ambulance Service, officers attended.
A short while later, the individual, whose age has not yet been disclosed, was declared dead. According to the Leicestershire Police, no one has been arrested. Officers had been called to a school in Melton Road after a complaint of threats when police were notified. The two instances, according to the police, are unrelated to one another. Detective Chief Inspector Mark Sinski, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit’s (EMSOU) major crime team, said:
“Our investigation is very much in its early stages and I’m appealing for anyone who was in the area of Gipsy Road or Melton Road shortly before or after midday to come forward. I’m particularly keen to hear from motorists with dashcams or anyone with CCTV footage. Anything you’re able to provide could greatly help our ongoing investigation.”
