Investigators from the sheriff’s office asked the public for help on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, to find two men who are wanted in connection with the shooting death of a 39-year-old man in Lemon Grove. Gregory Moore was shot and killed on March 22, and Ronald Shazun Perry, 32, and Daniel Ethridge, 34, have been named as suspects, said Lt. Joseph Jarjura of the sheriff’s office. The captain also said that Perry and Ethridge had arrest warrants issued for them because of the case.
Moore was shot in the chest and one leg on Lemon Grove Avenue near Montana Street at about 10 p.m. According to the Sheriff’s Department, the San Diego citizen then drove a short distance to the intersection with San Miguel Avenue. The department said that when deputies went to the scene of the killing, Moore was asleep in the driver’s seat of a car at the intersection. He was taken to a hospital by paramedics, but he died there.
Jarjura wouldn’t say how Perry and Ethridge were picked as suspects by the police. He said that the shooting’s cause and how it happened are being looked into. Days after the shooting, Lt. Chris Steffen said that police were looking at video from nearby surveillance cameras. Jarjura said that the police think Perry and Ethridge are part of a local street gang and that they are armed and dangerous.
Perry was said to be black, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weigh 180 pounds and have brown eyes and black hair. Jarjura said that he has been convicted of theft, assault with a deadly weapon, and having a hidden weapon in the past. Ethridge was said to be black, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 165 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Jarjura said that he has been convicted before of assault with a dangerous weapon and shooting into a home with people inside.
