Lee Greenwood Wiki Biography
Melvin Lee Greenwood, a country artist, was born on October 27, 1942, in Los Angeles, California, USA. He is well known for his song “God Bless The USA” (1984). During his career, which began in the early 1960s, he has published over 20 studio albums.
Have you ever wondered how wealthy Lee Greenwood is right now, in the middle of 2016? Lee’s net worth has been reported to be as high as $10 million, according to credible sources, an amount gained through his successful involvement in the music scene. His hits “Somebody’s Gonna Love You,” “Going, Going, Gone,” and “I Don’t Mind The Thorns,” in addition to “God Bless The USA,” have all charted at No. 1 in the United States.

Lee grew up with his maternal grandparents on a farm near Sacramento after his parents divorced. Lee joined the church choir when he was seven years old.
His career began in the early 1960s, when he formed The Apollos, a band that eventually changed its name to the Lee Greenwood Affair. They made a few albums for the Paramount label, but the band disbanded in the 1970s. In 1969, he was a member of the Chester Smith Band, which performed on TV, before joining Del Reeves’ band. Unfortunately, all of this hard work and dedication came to naught.
Nonetheless, fate shined on Lee in 1979, when he befriended Larry McFadden, the bassist and leader of the Mel Tillis band. McFadden was soon hired as Lee’s manager and signed to MCA’s Nashville division. His first album, “Inside Out,” was published in 1982, and a single with the same name had previously charted in the top 20 in the United States.
Lee’s net worth improved as the record reached No. 12 on the US Country chart and was certified gold. He proceeded to have success with his subsequent albums, including “Somebody’s Gonna Love You” (1983), “You’ve Got A Good Love Comin’ “(1984), which also went gold, and “Streamline,” which topped the US Country Chart and remains his only album to do so.
Lee has had moderate success since then, with only one record sticking out: “American Patriot,” released in 1992, which went platinum and helped enhance his net worth. He published “Love’s On The Way” the following year, and in the 1990s, he released albums such as “Totally Devoted To You” (1995) and “Wounded Heart” (1998), all of which contributed to his net worth.
His most recent album, “Stronger Than Time,” was released in 2003, after which he issued three albums, “Same River Different Bridge” (2000), “Good Old Country” (2000), and “Inspirational Songs” (2000), all of which failed to chart.
Lee opened the “Lee Greenwood Theater” in Seierville, Tennessee, in 1996, and it functioned for the next five years, increasing Lee’s personal worth.
Lee has been married to Kimberly Payne, a former Miss Tennessee USA, since 1992, and they have two children together. Lee has also been married three times; his first wife, Edna, with whom he was married from 1960 to 1964, and with whom he had two children, was his first. Roberta Taylor was his second wife; they were married from 1965 until 1977 and had one kid. Melanie Cronk was his third wife, whom he married in 1981 but divorced later.
