Laura ‘Christi’ Burns. Owner of Christi’s Little Red Barn Died In Accident: #WayneCity Two side-by-side vehicles collided head-on late on Friday night, resulting in the death of a woman from rural Dix who was also the proprietor of Christi’s Little Red Barn Restaurant in Wayne City.
The collision also resulted in three other people being transported to hospitals in St. Louis for medical care. Jefferson County Coroner Roger Hayse has determined that the deceased individual is a woman named Laura ‘Christi’ Burns, who is 53 years old. The injuries she got as a result of being flung from one of the side-by-sides in which she was a passenger were caused by the fact that she was pronounced dead at the site. The collision took place around 11:45 p.m. on Friday night on Rock Crusher road, which is located southwest of Dix.
According to Hayse, the drivers of both pairs of side-by-sides were unable to escape their vehicles and required assistance from the Jefferson Fire Department. Both were sent to St. Louis hospitals for medical care after being flown from the scene of the accident by Air Evac. Upon his own initiative, the passenger in the second vehicle exited the vehicle and was transported to the SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital located in Mt. Vernon.
After that, Hayse claims that he was transported to a hospital in St. Louis by means of a medical helicopter. No information regarding the passengers’ identities has been made public. With the assistance of an Accident Reconstructionist from the Illinois State Police, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department is currently handling the collision.
The restaurant the Little Red Barn will be closed today (Sunday) and will reopen on Tuesday, May 7th, as stated in a notice that was published on the Facebook page of the establishment.
