Son of lost elderly hiker in Perak confirms death – The death of the elderly hiker who went missing in Bukit Puncak Jelapang, Perak, has been verified by his son. According to Sinar Harian, 84-year-old Lau Sam was discovered yesterday by mountain guides, nine days after a search-and-rescue operation was launched for the deceased.
According to the report, the victim was discovered unconscious in a river 550 meters above sea level by the two guides.
The son stated that his family has called and met with the guides in order to fulfill the guides’ promise of a RM10,000 payment for the father’s location.
The son was cited as adding, “The award will be delivered as we promised before this, and as soon as the arrangements for my father’s death have been settled.”
According to thevibes.com, Lau, 48, also stated that after his father was discovered, he joined the search party. “A buddy informed me that mountain guides had located (my) father,” he claimed. “I observed my father’s situation, and it was heartbreaking, but there was nothing that could be done; all we could do was wait for the rescuers to bring him down (from the hill).”
The senior hiker was discovered around 2.14 p.m. yesterday, according to the Perak Fire & Rescue Department. A mountain guide told his party of the discovery about 2.30 p.m., according to operations commander Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad.
