Larissa Brady Death, Woman who died in fall at Ohio State graduation identified: The identity of the lady who died after falling during Ohio State University’s commencement ceremony on Sunday was made public by the Franklin County Coroner’s Office.
At 12:25 p.m., Columbus firefighters declared Georgian Larissa Brady, 53, dead at the scene outside Ohio Stadium. Her fingerprints were used to identify her by the coroner’s office. Whether her death was an accident or deliberate is not stated in the coroner’s initial release. According to Ohio State’s 2024 commencement program, Brady’s daughter was identified as a graduate who will be awarded a bachelor’s degree on Sunday.
Relatively little information regarding the tragedy that happened during Sunday’s graduating ceremony has been made public by Ohio State University and its police agency. A representative for the institution, Ben Johnson, told The Dispatch that after the tragedy, counseling services were extended to all grads and staff members who had volunteered at graduation. Sunday’s start went on without any interruption as word of the tragedy circulated among the attendees.
During the ceremony, neither university representatives nor commencement speakers—including social entrepreneur and OSU alum Chris Pan—discussed the death. Brady’s fall site was still marked off with yellow crime scene tape as students left the stadium after the graduation ceremony.
