The cause of death and circumstances surrounding Kosse Maykus’ passing was not made public by the family at the time of this publication. On Saturday, March 25th, 2023, Kosse’s beloved daughter Sierra Maykus shared on her Facebook that 103 days ago their father had a massive heart attack but she was happy that he was back home. She also added that there were days that she thought she would never get to hear his voice again but is truly one of the greatest moments of her life seeing him walking, talking, and laughing. It is still unknown if his death is related to his previous health challenges.
Who was Kosse Maykus?
Kosse Maykus was a native of Irving, Texas. He attended Texas Tech University where he obtained a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Kosse Maykus was the President of the Hat Creek Development and also the owner of Maykus Custom Homes. He was the leader at Maykus Homes and Neighborhoods. Kosse Maykus had been a Homebuilding Professional since 1978. According to his LinkedIn profile, they have constructed over 500 homes and developed over 1500 lots.
He was a specialized and certified Green Building Professional, Home Design, Home Construction, and Land Development. He was very knowledgeable, very kind, and empathetic. He was a good businessman who worked hard and could talk to people in a clear way. Kosse always had something to say and tips to give about everything. People went to him for guidance and to soak up the love, wisdom, and kindness that made him who he was.
Kosse gave people the courage to follow their dreams and find a reason to live. He will always be remembered for how hard he worked, how great of a husband he was, and how great of a father he was. He will also be remembered for how fun and exciting he was and how he lived an amazing life full of beautiful memories and stories. No one else is exactly like him. His friends and family will miss him a lot, but his spirit lives on in everyone he met. Kosse is a one-of-a-kind person. His memory will always be in the hearts and minds of people in Texas and beyond.
Tribute to Kosse Maykus
“When you know you should post because so many people have prayed and cared, but you struggle to believe and find the words- that’s me tonight.” RaDonna Hessel wrote. “I’m heartbroken to share that we lost our chamber chair, friend, and community businessman Kosse Maykus tonight. But even more heartbreaking is that Jan, Eason Maykus, Sierra Maykus, and Sasha Maykus lost their husband and father. Please say a prayer for them and the entire Maykus family. A special man will be missed by all.” Hessel added.
Garabedian Properties Custom Home Builder also wrote “We lost another great one on Friday night. Kosse Maykus has left us. Kosse has been an advocate for our industry for decades and was a strong advocate for keeping housing affordable. He, his family, and his team built hundreds of homes and developed communities throughout the region. Many of which we have built homes in and have families living there today. When we needed lots he was always there to provide options.”
