This afternoon, there was a shooting that took place in Burlington, and the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is currently investigating the incident. Officers from the HRPS were dispatched to the area of Guelph Line and New Street at approximately 1:50 p.m. after receiving reports of a victim who had been shot in the leg. The victim was said to be male. The victim, who was in critical condition, was taken to the hospital for treatment. At this time, there has not been any arrest made, nor has there been any description of the suspect(s) supplied.
At this time, there is not an ongoing threat to the safety of the general public. Residents of the area should prepare themselves for a continuous police presence while the investigation is ongoing.
