UPDATE: According to Sergeant Brian Walker, the suspect fired “hundreds of rounds from a high-powered rifle” at officers, who responded by firing back at him. As of twelve o’clock, there had been no reports of any injuries. According to one individual, a gunshot hit the bonnet of his car as he went past, although he was oblivious of what was going on at the time.
Another man stated that he was across the street when he heard the shots and that he immediately sought cover. According to the officers, the suspect locked himself in an apartment on the second floor of the complex and barred the door. Walker stated that there were neighbors who lived in close apartments but were unable to instantly leave because they feared for their safety.
Kendallville Shooting Today – Residents were warned by the City of Kendallville and the Indiana State Police (ISP) to stay away from an apartment complex on Wednesday evening due to what the ISP described as an active shooter in the surrounding area. The city issued a warning to Kendallville residents to avoid the Drake Terrace Apartments, which are located on the southwest edge of the city near State Road 3.
According to the Idaho State Police, state troopers have been in a standoff with a suspect who is armed with a weapon for more than an hour. The authorities have not commented on whether or not anyone was injured in the event.

A complaint came in on Saturday at about 1:30 p.m. stating that a woman had been shot with an arrow at an address on Glory Avenue in Kendallville. Officers were dispatched to the location. Officers found a female victim inside the garage of the residence who had been shot in the lower back with an arrow and was suffering from a wound to her lower back when they arrived.
She required medical attention and was taken to a nearby hospital, where she is currently listed as having a condition that is considered to be stable. There was no additional information that could be found. The inquiry into the incident is still ongoing.
