According to law enforcement agencies, Kaylin Gillis, of Schuylerville, NY died following the shooting that happened on Saturday, April 15, 2023. A suspect has been taken into custody in connection to the incident, Washington County Sheriff’s Office says. Police responded to the scene of the incident after receiving a 911 call at approximately 10 p.m., the investigating law enforcement agency says.
What Happened To Kaylin?
According to authorities, preliminary investigations determined that the vehicle the victim was in mistakenly pulled into the driveway at the Patterson Hill Road address while searching for a friend. The resident of the home fired at least twice at the vehicle, striking Kaylin, who was then pronounced dead at the scene.

After being detained, Kevin Monahan, 65, of Patterson Hill Road, was charged with second-degree murder. Today in the late afternoon, he was taken into custody by Warren County after being immediately released from the Washington County Jail. No information regarding the change in custody has been made public. After the victim was discovered on Cemetery Road in Salem, police from many agencies, including Cambridge-Greenwich Police, Granville PD, the Sheriff, and State Police, were dispatched to Monahan’s residence. The victim’s companions directed police to the residence. The Salem Fire Department manned a closure of Cemetery Road to through traffic for a number of hours Saturday night.
