Death: Woman killed in a car accident in Idaho Falls – KayDee Jo Martinez, 35, of Ammon, passed away April 3, 2022, from injuries sustained in a car accident. KayDee was born September 5, 1986, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Douglas West and Kathy Waters West. She grew up in Ammon and attended Tiebreaker Elementary, Sandcreek Middle School, and graduated from Hillcrest High School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Brigham Young University-Idaho. She also attended Northwest Nazarene University where she earned her Master’s Degree in social work. She worked with children as a Master Social Worker.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a great love for our Savior, Jesus Christ. KayDee loved motorcycle riding, horses, and fishing. She enjoyed playing basketball and softball. She cherished time spent with her friends and family. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her four children.
KayDee is survived by her father, Douglas West of Blackfoot, ID; mother, Kathy West of Ammon, ID; children, Carmine Martinez, Maliya Martinez, Romeo Martinez, and Penelope Martinez; brother, Ryan (Adrienne) West of Houston, TX; grandmother, DeeOn Waters of Ammon, ID; and previous husband, Fernando Martinez. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Leonard Waters; grandmother, LaVae Groesbeck; and aunt, Michelle Waters.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the Red Rock 2nd Ward, 4707 East Iona Road, with Bishop Jared Taylor officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2022, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Milo Cemetery.
