“We’re deeply saddened by Katie’s passing,” Apple said in a statement Monday. “She was an extraordinary person and she made countless contributions throughout her two-decade career at Apple. Our thoughts are with her loved ones and everyone who had the opportunity to work with her.”

Katie Cotton biography

In 1988, she moved from New Jersey to California, where she was ready to make her mark on the world. So she did it. Her children, Ethan and Isabelle, remember her as a loving mother, a kind friend, and an inspiring role model who helped them in every part of their lives. Cotton was named Apple’s vice president of marketing in 1996, and she stayed in that position until she retired in 2014. During that time, she helped create the company’s media strategy and plan some of its most important launch events.

She worked behind the scenes to help Apple’s brand, and she is known for protecting Jobs as his health got worse. Katie was named one of the most impressive women working in public relations and marketing in the technology field. She was a strong and constant supporter of the company, which helped its goods and brand get better known.

Cotton left the company about two years into Tim Cook’s time as CEO. Cook replaced Steve Jobs as CEO. During her time at the company, Apple went from almost going bankrupt to becoming the most valuable business in the world. This is one of the most amazing turnarounds in tech history. In her retirement, she worked with local community groups as a volunteer to raise understanding about the need for mental health education for children.
