Katherine Mashburn Death – 51-year-old Katherine Mashburn and 53-year-old Eric Babineaux have been identified as the individuals who passed away in a deadly shooting in Lafayette, LA Monday. According to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, the two were located dead in what is being investigated as a murder-suicide. Law enforcement agencies were called to a home located on N. Girouard Road in Broussard on what officials describe as a “suspicious circumstances call, the law enforcement agencies say.
According to the LPSO, on Wednesday the identities of the deceased people were disclosed. Officials also determined that Eric Babineaux died after he shot and killed his estranged wife.
Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating what appears to be a murder-suicide after discovering two bodies at a Broussard home earlier this week. Law enforcement agencies did not reveal what led to the tragic incident that has now left the families of the deceased individuals devastated and heartbroken.

The family wishes that visiting hours be held on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Delhomme Funeral Home – Bertrand. A Rosary will be recited in the funeral home on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, April 22, 2023, visiting hours will be held from 11:00 a.m. to the time of service. Brent Landry, Craig Landry, Marshall Landry, Doug Beynon, Allen Arabie, and Butch Weber will serve as honorary pallbearers. In Katherine’s memory, the family wishes that donations be directed to Faith House – Acadiana.
