Kara McCarthy Death – Kara McCarthy, a local of Oxford, Pennsylvania, passed away after being involved in a tragic accident while boating on the Elk River. The incident that resulted in the death of the Pennsylvania woman is being investigated by the Natural Resources Police of Maryland.
According to Lauren Moses, an NRP public information officer, a fatal boating accident happened on Wednesday evening around 10 o’clock when a 21-foot Bowrider that was occupied by three people struck a navigation buoy or channel marker, near Turkey Point. Reports indicate that Kara McCarthy was taken to a local hospital by emergency personnel after she suffered an injury.
After further investigation, it was confirmed that Kara McCarthy had passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital. According to Moses, the two other people who were on the boat received treatment for their minor injuries. She went on to say that rescue personnel hauled the boat away from the location of the collision. As of Saturday afternoon, the investigation being conducted by the NRP was still ongoing.

Laura Slattery, who was 63 years old and from Pasadena, was killed on Sunday night, July 3, after a vessel collided with the back of the watercraft that she was occupying near the mouth of the Magothy River in Anne Arundel County, according to the reports that were made by the local police.
According to the reports of the police, the operator of the second boat subsequently drove away from the scene of the collision without stopping. Since that time, investigators have identified a boat of interest; but, as of Saturday, police indicated that no arrests had been made.
