After initially stating that there were no credible reports of missing persons and making plans to demolish the block while people could still be trapped inside, officials in Iowa have finally revealed that up to five occupants are still missing following the collapse of a six-story apartment building. This comes after the officials had earlier made plans to demolish the block when people may still be trapped inside. At a press conference held on Tuesday, Mayor Mike Matson of Davenport stated that there are still five persons who have not been located, two of whom are thought to be still inside the structure that has partially fallen.
There are still five people who have not been located, and of those five, there is a possibility that two of them are still in the building. The identity of the people who went missing have not been made public; nonetheless, this discovery follows frantic efforts by locals, loved ones, and neighbors to sound the alarm about two men who were believed to be inside the building at the time it collapsed.
Since the structure unexpectedly caved in on Sunday afternoon about 5 o’clock, Branden Colvin and Ryan Hitchcock have not been seen or heard from since the incident. Even though their locations are unknown, rescue efforts were called off by officials just 24 hours later on Monday, and they planned to demolish the building thereafter.
