A DuBois adolescent was critically hurt in an ATV collision that happened in Brady Township, Clearfield County, on May 14. The incident involved a 2019 Can-Am Defender DPS HD8 “side-by-side” ATV and happened on Bancosky Road. The ATV swerved off the road and struck a mailbox, according to a report issued on May 25 by the Pennsylvania State Police in DuBois. The car returned to the road after the initial collision and slid onto its passenger side.
Tanner J. Davis, 18, of DuBois, the passenger, was thrown off the ATV during the collision and carried under it for a short distance before the vehicle came to a halt. According to the report, Davis suffered critical injuries and needed to be taken to Penn Highlands DuBois for medical attention. The men’s use of safety equipment at the time of the collision is unknown.
According to the report, the ATV’s driver, Zachary R. Shilala, 20, of Sykesville, fled the scene with the aid of a buddy without seeking medical attention for what are believed to be minor injuries. After then, Davis’ brother and a friend took the ATV away from the site and brought it to the mother’s house before State Police arrived. Shilala failed to notify the authorities of the collision right away, according to PSP, who recorded this in their report.
