Jeong Joong Ji Death – On the 9th of September 2022, Korean contestant on “Produce 101” season 2, Jung Joong-ji passed away due to suicide at the age of 30. The news about the death of Jung Joong-ji was confirmed in a tweet made by his mother on the 20th of September 2022 along with two photos of her son. The post reads; “I am Jung Joong-ji’s mother. My son Joong-ji took his own life. I can’t put into words how I feel right now.”

Jung Joon Ji’s mother confirmed that her son who was also known as Jeong Joong Ji died on the 9th, just 4 days after his 30th birthday. The funeral was held on the 11th at 9AM KST.

Who was Jung Joong-ji?

Jung Joong-ji was a singer and a theater actor. Reports states that Jung Joon Ji starred in the plays ‘Prison’ and ‘The Essence of Love’. He also participated in season 2 of Mnet’s ‘Produce 101’ in 2017, but was eliminated in 64th place with 86,864 votes. Produce 101 is a reality television talent competition franchise created by South Korean entertainment conglomerate CJ E&M, based around the formation of a K-pop girl group or boy group.

It is reported that the format is also popular for having no panel of judges, employing audience participation to make decisions, as well as for starting with a very large number of competitors, 101, narrowing that number down to the final 11. The franchise began in 2016 and has since expanded to other East Asian countries, China and Japan. It has attracted a wide following in the world.

It is reported Jung Joong-ji joined Mnet’s “Produce 101” season 2 in 2017 as a contestant from Wayz Company. He ranked 64th and was eliminated from the show.

Jung Joong-ji cause of death was attributed to Suicide. Reports states that Jung Joong-ji took his own life on the 9th of September 2022.
