Julie Wright Death, Alma, Arkansas Resident Has Passed Away: On Wednesday, May 1, 2024, Dr. Julia “Julie” Leanne Wright, who was 52 years old and lived in Alma, Arkansas, passed away in a private and quiet manner at home, surrounded by her devoted family. UAFS had Julie on her faculty, and she was also a certified public accountant.
She was a previous member of the Arkansas Marching and Hog Wild Band, as well as a member of the First Baptist Church of Alma, the graduating class of Alma High School in 1989, and the Alma High School graduating class. Reading, working with her students, and most importantly, spending time with her family were all things that she enjoyed doing. A proud mother, she was an Eagle Scout, a dancer, and a baseball player.
Her parents, Gerald Dean Smith and Reba Delores Gregory, welcomed their daughter Julie into the world on July 7, 1971 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Her maternal grandparents, Troy and Reba Jo Gregory, as well as her paternal grandparents, Raymond and Mamie Smith, each passed away before her. Her father, Gerald Dean Smith, was the first to pass away.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, David Wright, of Alma, Arkansas; her daughter, Emily Wright, of Alma, Arkansas; her son, Jackson Wright, of Alma, Arkansas; her mother, Delores Gregory, of Alma, Arkansas; her sister, Courtney Wright and her husband Kevin; her aunt, Lisa Boswell; her brothers-in-law, Jason Wright and his wife Betsy, Brian Wright and his wife Samantha, and Dr. Jeffrey Wright and his wife Helen; her nephews, Clayton Wright, Easton Wright, Henry Wright, Landon Wright, Brookson Wright; her nieces, Cora Wright, and Penelope Wright; and one more niece was on the way!
On Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 10:00 AM, the funeral service will be held in the First Baptist Church of Alma, and the interment will take place at Dyer Cemetery after the service. The Ocker Funeral Home in Alma will be the location where the family will meet with friends on Monday, May 6, 2024, beginning at 6:00 PM and continuing until 8:00 PM. At this time, the Ocker Funeral Home in Alma is in charge of the arrangements for care. Jackson Wright, Kevin Wright, Clayton Wright, and Brian Wright, together with Dr. Jeffrey Wright, Jason Wright, and Jackson Wright, will serve as pallbearers. The following individuals will serve as honorary pallbearers: Judson Parker, Tyson Shepherd, Matthew Crosswhite, and Aaron Milford.
