Those who know Julie best say that she is completely devoted to her sport. Her early exposure to competitive shooting likely contributed to her lifelong passion for the sport. Both Julie and her sister Camilla studied and competed at TCU and the University of Nebraska as international students and athletes. These sisters are closer than ever now because of everything they went through together. Julie’s brief time at TCU was not wasted, as she established numerous program and national records.

In the February PRC championships, she scored two flawless 600s with her air rifle. In addition, her smallbore average is the best in the country. Julie made the CRCA’s First Team in three separate events: air rifle, smallbore, and aggregate. Aside from school and sports, Julie adored being a “Swiftie” and was overjoyed to see Taylor Swift in concert not too long ago.

She was enjoying the time of her life at TCU, according to her constantly communicating parents. She had a great time at TCU, and she was grateful for her friends and teammates on the team. Anne White and Coach Karen Monez are two people whose friendship and guidance have been invaluable to her family. We mourn the loss of Julie. Candlelight vigils at Frog Fountain are held whenever a student dies on campus.

Tomorrow, Thursday, April 27, during the Contemplative Hour, the Carr Chapel will be available for any students, professors, or staff members who would like to pray, meditate, or light a candle in honor of Julie. Feel free to drop in and out as your schedule permits. Condolences are been sent to the family members of Julie Paulsen Johannessen who recently passed away.
