He passed away after the shooting incident that happened on Thursday, September 21, 2023. The Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a report of shots fired at the SoCo Park Apartment Homes located at 7201 South Congress Avenue. The investigation of the 45th murder committed in Austin in 2023 is now ongoing as homicide case.

The sound from the gunshots at SoCo Park Apartment Homes was reported to the Austin Police Department. Officers located Juan Davila, who had been injured by gunfire, in the parking lot of the apartment complex. On the arrival of the officials, he was transported to the hospital and at the hospital, Davila’s death was confirmed by medical staff. Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators were sent out to the scene, where they processed it and interviewed witnesses.
It would appear that Davila and another man got into a brawl in the parking lot after an altercation involving road rage on the roadway. At some point, Davila pulled out a revolver, which prompted the other man to open fire and ultimately resulted in his death.
The Austin Police officials have located the second male suspect in this case and are still in the process of investigating the incident that resulted in the death of Juan Davila.
