Rev Run or just DJ Run is the stage name of Joseph Ward Simmons, a well-known American disc jockey, rap artist, actor, television producer, and minister of religion. Rev Run is best known for being a co-founder of the popular hip-hop group “Run D.M.C.” from Queens, New York. “Run D.M.C,” one of the most well-known hip hop acts of the 1980s, was one of the first to introduce the new-school genre to hip hop music. Simmons, Darryl McDaniels, and Jam Master Jay, who was assassinated in 2002 at the age of 37, formed the group in 1981.
