Jose Cruz-Castrejon Death – A 2005 Ford Mustang was approaching Federal School Lane while driving north on Route 9 on March 2, 2023, at at 9:17 p.m. The 18-year-old male driver from New Castle, Delaware, lost control of the car, which then started to revolve counterclockwise while skidding over the northbound lane, the southbound lane, and the right shoulder. A tragic single-vehicle crash that happened in the New Castle region last night is being looked into by the Delaware State Police. The Ford’s driver-side tires collided with a high concrete curb at a storefront on the 1300 block of River Road. The Ford rolled over after hitting the curb and flew into a densely wooded area before coming to a stop on all four tires. The Ford then started to burn.

The front-seat occupant who was buckled up was able to get out of the car. He was unharmed in the collision. The driver who wasn’t adequately restrained was unable to get out of the car. At the site, the operator was declared dead. Jose Cruz-Castrejon, 18, of New Castle, Delaware, has been named by the Delaware State Police as the victim of a single-vehicle fatal accident that happened in New Castle on March 2, 2023. For almost 4 hours, Route 9 between Hamburg Road and Federal School Lane was closed while the accident was investigated and the road was made safe. The crash is still under investigation by the Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit of the Delaware State Police.
