Jon Ferreira Death – Jon Ferreira of Bangor, Maine, has passed away unexpectedly, Ferreira, a very talented tour guide, actor, writer, and director, tragically died in a motor vehicle accident along with two passengers early Sunday, September 24, morning. The accident took place at approximately 2:30 in the morning on Sunday, and it was caused by a single car that was traveling on Phillips Road in the direction of Kenduskeag Road and went off the roadway at a high rate of speed.
It was later discovered that the vehicle rolled over into a ditch prior to it striking a driveway culvert after responding authorities from the Sheriff’s Office, the Glenburn Fire Department, and the Hermon Fire Department rushed to the incident near Merryman Road. According to Christopher Dea, Jon was a passionate fire that lit up many wonderful creative endeavors. He was a great verbal sparring partner and also a great friend.

Jon Ferreira was a resident of Maine and worked there. He was a staunch believer that a community with a robust arts basis is a better place to live, and that it contributes to the citizens’ education as well as their entertainment. Ferreira considered himself to be a storyteller first and foremost, and he used art to help improve society as a whole as well as the location that he called home on a more local level.
Ferreira brings live theater into museums, classrooms, and theatrical spaces through his work as a director, designer, and teaching artist. He does this by collecting the most talented team of artists possible around the most meaningful work. He brings representation, diversity, and social justice to work that teaches as well as entertains and is profitable, proving that the two goals are not mutually contradictory.
Jon Ferreira has been involved in the theater industry for more than 30 years, during which time he has acted in over 100 performances, directed approximately 50 of those productions, and planned, stage managed, built, or run crew on dozens more.
