Jon David Utley Obituary, Death : Pulaski County sheriff’s Corporal, Jon David Utley, of Mounds, formerly of West Frankfort, Illinois passed away at the age of 26. Jon was pronounced dead as at 11:40 p.m., Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Union County Hospital. Jon David was born on May 17, 1995 in Marion to David Earl and LaShanda (Robinson) Utley.

Jon David Utley was a graduate of the Southwestern Illinois Police Academy in Belleville. Jonathan honorably served his community as a Police officer with several agencies in Franklin and Williamson County, and currently a Corporal with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department.

Jon David enjoyed listening to country music, fishing with his papa Al, and spending time with his son Jase. He also enjoyed camping and fixing up his truck. His greatest passion in life was being a Police Officer. Jonathan was baptized at Mulkeytown Baptist Church.

Jon David is survived by his son, Jase Utley of Marion; parents, LaShanda Utley of West Frankfort and David Utley of Lincoln; two sisters, Brittany (Bryan) Stroud of Christopher and Mikayla Utley of West Frankfort; maternal grandfather, Al Robinson of West Frankfort; paternal grandmother, Dianne Utley of Christopher; two nephews, Bodhi and Bentley Stroud of Christopher; three aunts, Geinger (Mark) Hill of Franklin, TN, Tabitha Utley of Peoria and Kendra (Tom) Harrison of Christopher; cousins, Jake & Ethan Hill, Skylie Utley, Kaci & Chris Harrison; two special friends, Bruce Newbolds and Matt Dunaway both of Mounds; Jase’s mother, Dakota Utley of Marion. He is also survived by many friends.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Darlene Robinson; paternal grandfather, Kenneth Utley; uncle, Gregory Robinson.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 11 a.m. with a funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge (594 Olmsted Road).

He will then be escorted by Law Enforcement back to his hometown in Johnston City, Illinois where a visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 25, 2022 at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City (just East of Interstate 57, exit 59).

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Steve Shea officiating. Interment will follow in Herrin City Cemetery.

Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City is entrusted with the arrangements.
