John Shoniker Death – University of Waterloo Alumnus John Shoniker of Kitchener, Ontario has sadly passed away. He died on Wednesday 6th September 2023 after a courahepous battle with cancer at the age of 52. He was announced dead through a Facebook post that reads “John David Edward Shoniker April 8 1971 – Sept 6 2023 It is with the greatest of sorrow the Shoniker family announces John’s passing after a courageous and well fought battle with cancer”.

Education-wise, John attained his Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from the University of Waterloo in 1995, a testament to his academic achievements. He holds a place of honor in the University of Waterloo Athletic Hall of Fame, highlighting his remarkable contributions to sports and academics alike. Additionally, John was a proud member of Advocis and The International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP), showcasing his commitment to professional excellence. He leads the Integrated Solutions Division at People Corporation, where he plays a pivotal role in harmonizing Group Benefit Consulting principles with product design and packaging.
He was an integral member of the Leadership Team at People Corporation. John embarked on his journey in benefit consulting back in 1996 within the Group Division of a prominent national insurer. In 1998, John made the strategic move to a national consulting firm, where he accomplished remarkable growth and development in the Benefit Consulting practice in Ontario, successfully serving over 300 corporate clients.

In recognition of his achievements, John earned a promotion to Vice President in 2005, with responsibilities spanning both the marketing and operational facets of the business. In 2010, John transitioned to People Corporation, formerly known as Groupworks Financial, to lead the Integrated Solutions division. His dedicated team operates from the People Corporation office located in Cambridge, Ontario, diligently serving clients with their integrated solutions.
