John Marcantonio Death – SUNY Adirondack Alumnus John Marcantonio of South Glens Falls, New York has sadly passed away. He died on Saturday 22nd July 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer at age 53. He was confirmed dead through a publication made on Facebook on Monday that reads “Our NENY board and staff are heartbroken by the passing of our current Board Chair John Marcantonio. John was a remarkable advocate whose passion to end Alzheimer’s was felt by everyone he met”. The actual cause of John Marcantonio’s death has not been revealed.

John Marcantonio Education and Career

On May 29, 1970, John Marcantonio was born to the late John Marcantonio and Mary (O’Brien) Marcantonio in Glens Falls, New York. His parents have since passed away. He began his education at South Glens Falls High School, from which he graduated in 1988. He then continued his education at SUNY Adirondack, from where he graduated with an Associate of Science degree in Business Administration in 1990. After that, he pursued further education at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica/Rome, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business in 1992. He worked hard at his job at International Paper in Corinth, New York, where he could be found most days.

After that, in the year 2003, he began working for Keena Staffing Inc. as the Director of Sales. John’s enthusiastic demeanor and deep passion for the community paved the path for him to move on to his next post as Membership Manager for the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce, and then Membership Director for the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce after that.

In 2016, he accepted the position of Vice President and Business Development Officer at Glens Falls & Saratoga National Bank, which is affiliated with Arrow Financial Corporation. John became a well-known and liked icon in the communities that he touched as a result of the job route he chose and his passion for forming connections with other people. Surviving John is his wife, Shelly and their son Christopher; his brother Ray and wife Theresa, his niece Victoria and nephew Lorenzo of Ashburn, VA; his brother-in-law Michael Howard of South Glens Falls, NY. John was part of a larger family that included numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. John also leaves behind an army of friends, colleagues, business associates, and countless community members who played a large role in John’s life.

John Marcantonio Obituary

A visitation will be held Thursday, July 27, 2023 from 3 to 7 P.M. at the Singleton Sullivan Potter Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury, NY. The funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023 at 11 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 62 Warren Street, Glens Falls, NY. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls, NY. Immediately following the burial, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Queensbury Hotel, Glens Falls, NY.
