John Leonard Hanover Obituary, Halifax Drowning Victim Identified By Officials: Authorities are looking into a man’s possible drowning after his canoe overturned on a Halifax lake early on Sunday morning.
According to a statement provided to The Boston Globe by Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz’s office, police were called shortly before 11 a.m. to reports of a flipped boat and multiple persons in the water. Cruz posted on X stating that police had been called to the boat ramp at 47 White Island Road in Halifax.
Cruz claimed that the man’s death was being investigated by the State Police, the Halifax Police, and the Massachusetts Environmental Police. The Globe stated that one adult and two children had safely exited the water, while the male remained lost in the depths.
The individual was found by a diving team at approximately 12:45 p.m., Cruz’s office informed the Globe. After being brought to a hospital, he was declared deceased. In response to Boston.com’s information requests on Monday afternoon, Cruz’s office did not immediately react.
