Following a four-vehicle crash on Friday morning, at about At 10:20 a.m, on Briley Parkway, McGavock Pike, one person died and another was taken to the hospital.
In the course of investigations officers discovered that, traffic was slowing in the vicinity when James Lester, 33, of Fairview, was driving a Toyota 4Runner northbound.
Lester did not see the traffic in front of him had come to a halt because the vehicle in front of him changed lanes. Being unable to stop in time, he collided with a Kia Forte, with two occupants, 62-year-old John Joseph Kelly, and 64-year-old Shariann Kelly both from Selden, New York. The Kia was forced into the emergency lane, where it collided with a Chevy Sonic and a Subaru Forester.
The 4Runner then continued down Briley Parkway, rolling over in the center of the road.
Lester was unharmed in the collision, John, was killed, and Shariann was rushed to Skyline Medical Center, where her condition is described as “critical but stable.”
At the site, there was no sign of alcohol or drug use.
