John Goldie Obituary, Death : John Goldie 71, “Goldie” of Quincy, Massachusetts as he was known by many, died unexpectedly on November 24, 2020. He was the husband of 34 years to Nancy (Hoffman) Goldie “Katie” as she is known by many.

John Goldie was born in Quincy, MA “Goldie” was a son of the late John and Norma (Ortendahl) Goldie. He served his country and was an honorably discharged veteran of the United State Air force during the Vietnam War. “Goldie” was a member of the VFW Post #872 in Southwick. “Goldie” was a retired bar tender; and he was employed by the Lakeview (then the Anchor Inn) in Southwick; and Santi’s Restaurant in Springfield.

He had many loyal regulars with whom he became friends with. After spending a weekend in Southwick with an Air Force buddy he decided to make the town his permanent home; and he resided here for 48 years. He loved working in his yard. “Goldie” enjoyed boating on the Congamond Lakes. During the winter months he could be found on a Windjammer, sailing around the Caribbean with Katie.

In addition to his parents, “Goldie” was predeceased by two brothers in law, Craig Arnold and Fred Suter; a nephew, Nick Arnoldi; and his mother in law, Nancy H Raible.

In addition to his wife with whom he was together with for 40 years, he leaves two brothers, Paul Goldie and his wife MaryAnn, of Halifax, MA, Fred Goldie and his wife Cindy, of Toms River, NJ; two sisters, Elaine Arnoldi of Mahwah, NJ, Dawn Suter of Pocono Lakes, PA; two brothers in law, Tom Cannon and his wife Martha, of Charlotte, NC, Frank Hoffman and his wife Sherry, of Flynt, TX; a sister in law, Sue Parlante of Windsor, CT; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
