John Goldie Jr Obituary – Death,  Former Of Cool Ridge Dies At 80 – John Goldie Jr., 80, of Scott Depot, formerly of Cool Ridge, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at the Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial Division following a short illness. Born May 11, 1927, at Cool Ridge, he was the son of the late John and Faye Lilly Goldie. Mr. Goldie was a member of the Calloway Heights Baptist Church and had served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a retired building construction worker. John loved fishing, hunting, and being with his family. He enjoyed singing gospel music, and last sang with the gospel group “Be About.” Mr. Goldie had made his home at Scott Depot for the past three years. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, Glenn, and Fred.

Mr. Goldie will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 56 years, Joyce Lilly Goldie; his son, John Michael Goldie and wife, Pat, of Bruceton Mills, W.Va.; his daughter, Barbara Welsh and husband, Robert, of Hurricane; a granddaughter, Emily Goldie-Holt of Bruceton Mills; a great-granddaughter, Betsy Goldie-Holt of Bruceton Mills; two step-grandsons, Matt and wife, Angela Welsh, of Antioch, Tenn., and John Welsh of Philadelphia, Pa.; a step-granddaughter, Lisa Sanchez and husband, Jose, of Exton, Pa.; two step-great-grandchildren, Laken Sanchez and Liam Welsh.

Mr. Goldie is survived by his mother-in-law, Gladys Lilly of Flat Top; two sisters, Marcia Meador and husband, Robert, of Eldersville, Md., and Karen McMillan of Odenton, Md.; a brother, Ronald Van Goldie, and wife, Sylvia, of Davidson, Mich. The service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Calloway Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the Epling Cemetery at Camp Creek.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Pallbearers will be Perry Bennett, Harold Lilly, Harold Hunt, Robert Lilly, Eugene Whitehead, and Phillip Bennett. Arrangements by Rose and Quesenberry, Shady Spring.
