According to Peter Wurdock‘s Facebook post online, “He has only been in heaven for a few hours, but the absence of his booming laughter on earth is something of note. I’ve known John since my freshman year of High School. We played together in orchestra and in our school’s Pop Concert and remained close friends after high school and into adulthood with too many great memories to mention.
Long before the days of cell phones, a few of our close knit bunch of friends used to have a stash of what we called out “John Decker quarters” that we kept in our car. John instructed us to call him in the event of any emergency that may occur while we were on the road. John’s assurances of being there for us were better than any road service ever offered. His friendship was even more amazing.”
