Joey was a pioneering force within the Freestyle music genre, which originated in the late 1980s. He was responsible for producing multiple songs for the New York-based Freestyle group TKA, as well as for the singer K7. Additionally, he cooperated on numerous recordings for Tommy Boy Records.
“Joey Gardner is the architect of the TKA sound. His influence can be heard in every song that we have ever done, whether as TKA or as K7.
